Its belly is grooved with ridges to trap air and/or attractant; but most importantly, this ensures optimal compression of the lure under jaw pressure, completely freeing a Texas hook. A little tip, when fishing 'weightless': generously fill this belly with attractant to ensure good lure stability and play with its density to modify its descent speed. This softer, ribbed texture also extends the time a predator holds the lure in its mouth, giving you more time to set the hook effectively!
